Volunteer Information

There are so many volunteer opportunities for parents, guardians, and grandparents at Waters Landing. Whether you have limited or unlimited free time, there is some way for everyone to pitch in and help make our school a great place for students to learn and have fun.

Teachers are looking for volunteers to help with small group instruction in the classroom, administrative help such as copying lessons for future classwork, cutting out designs for bulletin boards (this can be done at home), preparing Friday Folders for students, and so much more. Please contact your child’s teacher to see how you can help this school year.

The PTA is also looking for volunteers to help with many of their programs throughout the year. Be sure to regularly check the “Volunteer” link at the top of the page to see how you can help the PTA provide quality programs and assistance to the students and staff. And, as always, thank you for all that you do!

PARKING LOT SAFETY

Beginning immediately, the parking lot will be closed from 3:20 until 3:35 p.m. every afternoon. No cars will be allowed to enter the parking lot during this time. We are extremely concerned about the number of students who run across the parking lot to their cars at dismissal and the number of parents who double park and use the parking lot as a pick up loop. Children will not be allowed to walk to cars parked in the lot without an adult.

Kindergarten Registration

Remember when you registered your first child for Kindergarten?!  It’s time to welcome our newest future students to Waters Landing!!  Kindergarten registration will take place on May 10th and 11th from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.  Volunteers are needed to help the staff, give a short school tour to new parents, and to help set up drinks and snacks for incoming Kindergarteners.  If you have time and would like to help, please contact Lucy Monroy at 301.793.9871, or email at lucinymd@gmail.com.  Thank you!!

Dolphinmania Needs YOU!!

We are still in need of a volunteer or a team of volunteers who are willing to coordinate this year’s Dolphinmania.  Currently we do not have anyone for this position and without a volunteer stepping forward soon (planning and preparation need to begin shortly) this even is in danger of not happening.  Prior year coordinators are willing to help train a new coordinator(s) so you won’t be flying blindly.  We need many wonderful people to step up and help plan the different aspects of the Spring carnival.  We have games, crafts, inflatables, food, balloons, teacher auctions, basket auctions to plan.  This is a wonderful time to spend with your family so we’re not asking you to give up your entire carnival day.  If you are willing to volunteer even a small portion of time, please contact Mathew McCabe at runningyp@gmail.com with your availability.  This is a great opportunity for SSL hours for middle and high school students, as well!
