PTA Goals 2009 - 2010

Goal 1: PTA Membership Goal

We will increase parent involvement in the WLES PTA by actively interacting with the school community inclusively to communicate the purpose, goals and activities of the PTA and respond to issues and concerns raised by its members. (as measured by PTA membership and active PTA members)
Focus: Maintain a high level of communication of advocacy issues and have PTA presence at all functions

  • Representatives to special groups including Special Education, NAACP, ESOL, SCC, SIP Team, Seneca Valley Cluster and MCCPTA

Goal 2: Parent Involvement Goal - Programs to support parents/families outside the school day in their role in their child's education

We will increase parent involvement at Waters Landing Elementary School by providing the school community with information, family activities and programs designed to improve the physical and mental well-being of our children, facilitate a closer relationship between home and school, and enhance/enrich student's academic growth. (as measured by attendance at events and enrollment in classes)
Focus: Maintain high level of communication, provide information and training to support School Improvement Plan, coordinate fundraising with other school organizations, and provide social evening events for community building.

  • Social Events: Back to School Picnic, Snow Ball, Dolphinmania, Halloween, Take Your Family to School Week
  • Enrichments: Reflections, Earth Day, Book Fair, Read to Me/Talk With Me, Math Night, Science Night, Science Fair

Goal 3: Supportive Learning Environment Goal - Programs to support teachers and students in the course of the school day.

We will strive to create a positive learning environment that is safe and welcoming for students, staff and parents, promotes learning and performance in the classroom, fosters a sense of school pride in the community and provides every child with an equal opportunity to learn. (as measured by school climate survey)
Focus: Support staff as needed to maximize instruction time, advocate for training to increase class management skills in all staff, and actively participate to ensure ALL students are being served.
